Seniors ACLF Division 3 Playoffs
ACFL Division 3 Promotion Playoffs
Killeshandra took on Drumgoon in the Division 3 Playoffs on Wednesday evening an important game for both sides as it would see them through to the Final but more importantly would see one team up to Division 2. The Leaguers got off to a good start scoring the first point in the opening minutes of the game thanks to Tomas O Reilly(9) but a strong Drumgoon side seen them take the lead in the opening 10 minutes of the game by a margin of 6 points to 1 point. Great play up the field from Shane Reilly(11) and Conor O Reilly(6) who in turn sent the ball into Tomas O Reilly(9) who then sent it into Luke Bevis(3) to get Leaguers 2nd point of the game. 3 minutes later seen Drumgoon get their 7th point of the game in the 17th minute of the first half but the Leaguers fought hard to keep up with them and managed to get another point Aaron Brady(10) getting it. Drumgoon did seem to have the edge over the Leaguers as they managed to score another 3 points (two from frees) while the Leaguers got another 2 points thanks to Tomas O Reilly(9) and Eoin Brady(15) before Mickey Lee (Ref) blew the half time whistle leaving the score line Killeshandra 0-05 Drumgoon 0-10. Second half got underway and it took around 10 minutes for the first score to appear and it was Drumgoon who got the opening score. Killeshandra did get a good run for the next 6 minutes thanks to Paddy King(8) catching some great ball in middle field from the kick out outs which seen Daniel Luby(14) Aaron Brady(10) Tomas O Reilly(9) and Shane Murphy(13) getting points to bring the game back to a two point game. Drumgoon looked like they were in control of the game and soon took the lead yet again to a 6 point game with 20minutes gone. Shane Reilly(11) did get the Leaguers next point of the game before two changes were made Ryan Brady(20) and Darren O’ Hanlon(17) came on. It was point for point right up until the end with the Leaguers scoring another 4 points Shane Reilly(11) getting two Shane Murphy(13) one from free another from play. Drumgoon just had the upper hand and scored another two points before the full time whistle was blown to see them take the win and make the Final and up to Division 2. Great display of football from both teams and both worked hard and gave it their all on the pitch but it was Drumgoons day and we wish them all the best. Final score Killeshandra 0-13 Drumgoon 0-17.
